Broadband Internet now available at CQnet

15/07/08 8:45am Tuesday 5 August 2008 - 8am. CQnet wishes to advise that as a result of a security breach of our mail server yesterday (Monday 4 August 2008), we have had to take immediate steps to prevent further attacks. For this reason, we ask all our clients to use our webmail system (http://webmail.cqnet.com.au) for the interim. CQnet wishes to apologise for any inconvenience this emergency action has caused.

Tuesday 5 August 2008 - 3pm. The CQnet webmail system (http://webmail.cqnet.com.au) is the preferred mail system for use by our clients. Our webmail system appears to have far fewer operational issues over conventional email programs. Because it is web based, it is so easy for clients to be able to access their CQnet emails from anywhere in the world. On any computer that has Internet access and a browser program like Internet Explorer, you simply type the above webmail URL into the address bar and you can view your mails from anywhere. It also works well even on devices like the new Apple iPhone.

Tuesday 5 August 2008 - 3:30pm. Outlook Express and other mail programs are operational again by following the new setup instructions shown below.

To be able to use Outlook Express, you need to change your email account within Outlook Express. Once inside Outlook Express, click on "Tools" on the menu bar at the top of the window, then click on "Accounts". Make sure the "Mail" tag on the window that appears is selected, then click once on your email account displayed in the window. Then click on "Properties" from the menu to the right.
When the next window appears, click on the tab "Servers" from the menu across the top. In this next window, the incoming and outgoing mail servers need to be changed from "mail.cqnet.com.au" to the new server name "mailhost.cqnet.com.au". In addition, the account name must be changed to your actual email address. (For example, if your current account name is "xtreme" and your email address is "xtreme@cqnet.com.au", you simply change "xtreme" to your email address "xtreme@cqnet.com.au").
Your password does not change and there is no need to change anything else. Well finished, simply click on "Apply" and then "Ok". Finally, click on "Close" to return to the email program.
For any mail programs other than Outlook Express, make sure your account name is your email address as per the instructions above, and that your mail servers are now mailhost.cqnet.com.au.
We may not be able to help with every mail program because we simply cannot be familiar with every program available.
